Scrubs, Creams and Self-Care!

Here at Student Experience, we’re all about wellbeing! One major part of looking after your mental wellbeing is relaxing, which can be achieved through self-care.

This weekend, instead of forking out money on beauty products with a list of ingredients you don't understand, why not try out my easy, sugar scrub and moisturiser cream recipes! This can be a great way to relax and get creative in the evening on a low budget. So let's get started!

For my scrub, all you need is:

  • A jar or container

  • Granulated sugar or salt

  • Almond/Coconut/Apricot oil

  • Essential oils - I used Absolute Aroma’s Relaxation blend but you can also do your own.

  • Dried flowers

In a bowl, put 4 heaped tablespoons of sugar/salt and add 2 tablespoons of your oil (I am using almond but apricot is better as its more nourishing). Then put 6-8 drops of your essential oil and add your flower petals (I used lavender since the relaxation blend contains lavender). Mix all the ingredients together and then pour into your jar for later use!

For my moisturiser cream, all you need is:

  • A container with a lid

  • Coconut oil

  • Shea butter

  • Essential oils - I used Geranium (Bourbon) and Rose

In a small bowl, scoop one tablespoon of shea butter into a bowl, add ½ tablespoon of coconut oil and ½ almond oil. Mix the oil and butter together with a spoon until smooth and creamy. Then add a few drops of your essential oils (I used 4 drops of geranium and 2 drops of rose oil) and mix again so the oil/shea butter mixture combines with the oils. Lastly, scoop the mixture into a container!

The great part about this is that if you are sensitive to certain ingredients, you can change it out to suit your needs! Now you have two great recipes to try out so all that’s left to do is get your self-care on!
