Movember - It’s okay to not be okay!

What’s 'Movember' all about? 'Movember' is an annual celebration that takes place around the world, during the month of November, supporting Men’s mental health and suicide prevention. 'Movember' also aims to increase awareness around other health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer. Since 2003, this month has raised over £598 million and funded over 1,250 projects globally, and empowered millions of men and women to join the global men’s health movement.

Continuing with 'Movember', we thought to tell you what the fuss is about and what’s on offer from the College.

Pearson College has many ongoing initiatives to support students across the College. Firstly, our dedicated Wellbeing and Inclusivity Ambassadors, who are passionate to support other students through their personal experiences and work with the Access and Participation Team. Secondly, our wider College Student Representatives who give feedback to academic staff regarding the College via the different committees. If you have new ideas of how we can incorporate mental health into our community, these are the people to share it with as they have a direct connection to the staff at the college!

Thirdly, Pearson College Student Association, who have many societies to find like minded students with similar interests and experience. There are many clubs within the college such as the societies that can help alleviate stress and help you build a support network. One of our favourites is the drawing club as I find doodling to be really therapeutic!

Fourthly, our counselling service; if you feel you need guided support, our counselors are available to support you in a safe, non-judgement environment to explore your emotions. If you would like to find out more information please email, our wellbeing and inclusivity ambassador team - access@pearsoncollegelondon.ac.uk or for student representatives - boryana.peevska-cutting@pearson.com or for the PCSA - pcsa@pearsoncollege.com or for the counselling service, check MyPCL on your portal.

“So I know what resources there are at the school but how can I get involved in the celebration of ‘Movember’? As a student, you can get involved by growing out your facial hair and creating a fundraising page to share it with family and friends. If you don’t fancy that then you can also run or walk for the cause. Check out the official ‘Movember’ website to get even more info!
